Wine Fest Toronto Celebrated Global Wines—And Rioja Stood Out as Spain’s Finest
As the only Spanish wine region represented at the festival, Rioja brought the spirit, flavor, and heritage of Spain’s finest directly to Toronto’s waterfront, offering thousands of attendees a rare opportunity to explore the wines that have defined our region for more than a century.

A Standout Presence in a Sea of Global Wines
Across three days at Exhibition Place in the heart of Toronto, Rioja welcomed curious newcomers, seasoned wine lovers, and enthusiastic festival-goers to discover the flavors that make our region one of the world’s most celebrated.
From vibrant whites to expressive reds and lively rosados, Rioja’s table quickly became a must-visit stop—drawing constant crowds and sparking conversations about tradition, aging, and craftsmanship.
A Special Centennial Seminar
One of the highlights of Wine Fest Toronto was Rioja’s consumer seminar, “100 Years Living and Breathing Wine.”
Held Saturday evening to a packed audience, the 20-minute tasting guided guests through Rioja’s regional timeline and winemaking evolution. Attendees explored three distinct expressions:
- Luis Cañas Blanco Viñas Viejas – a textured, old-vine white that surprised many new to Rioja Blanco
- Altanza Crianza – a classic, balanced expression of Rioja’s hallmark style
- Ontañón Reserva – an elegant, layered example of the region’s signature aging tradition
For many attendees, the seminar sparked new appreciation for how Rioja’s wines evolve over time—and why they continue to inspire around the world.
Celebrating 100 Years of Craft
As Rioja marks its 100th year as a Denominación de Origen, Wine Fest Toronto offered the perfect stage to share our story of resilience, innovation, and passion.
Being the only Spanish presence at the event underscored Rioja’s role as the region that put Spain on the global wine map—past, present, and future.
